Ben Stevenson

Head Coach

Coach Stevenson graduated from Sparkman High School in 2007, lettering in football and baseball. Coach Stevo is entering his first year in the head coaching role for the Senators in the 2023-24 season. He graduated from the University of North Alabama in 2012. While attending UNA, he served as the baseball manager of the UNA baseball program for 4 years. Coach Stevenson started working at Sparkman in 2012 and coached football and baseball for 5 years before making the switch to baseball only in 2018. In his tenure with the Sparkman baseball team, he has served as both the freshman and JV head coach and a varsity assistant.


Coach Stevenson has a BS in Secondary Education Social Science from the University of North Alabama, and an M.Ed in Instructional Leadership from the University of West Alabama.

 

Coach Stevenson is married to Linzee Crunk Stevenson of Klllen, AL.  They have a son, Billy Mac(6), and a daughter Annie Gayle(1).


 

Mike Good

Pitching Coach

Coach Good begins his 7th year as a varsity assistant at Sparkman.  Prior to joining the Senator baseball program, Mike spent 23 years coaching at Madison Academy serving the last 14 years as the Mustangs Head Varsity Coach and overall Program Director.  Mike produced an overall record of 406-205 (66% win percentage) during his tenure which included four (4) – Class 3A State Championships (2009, 2014, 2015 & 2016).  Coach Good’s teams were routinely ranked among the best in Class 3A by the Alabama Sports Writer’s Association (ASWA).  In recognition of the program's overall success and Coach Good’s achievements, the Alabama Baseball Coaches Association honored Mike with the 2014 “Sammy Dunn Memorial Award,” given to only one high school coach each year for exhibiting a high degree of team excellence at the high school level.

Under Mike's tutelage, Mustang players established a long tradition of receiving post-season honors. Eighteen (18) student athletes were named 1st Team All State by the ASWA.  Twenty-one (21) student athletes were named ASWA 2nd Team or All-State Honorable Mention; and Sixty-nine (69) student athletes were distinguished by Al.com or the Huntsville Times as 1st Team All-Region or All-Metro selections.

Coach Good attended the University of North Carolina at Wilmington (UNC-W) where he was a member of their NAIA World Series team of 1975. Mike was also a member of UNC-W's first NCAA Division 1 baseball team in 1977.  Mike was married for 33 years to the former Peggy Lyons (deceased). Mike and Peggy raised two children, Logan and Kyle, both residents of Nashville, TN. Mike also has three grandchildren; Maddox, Liam and Kenadee.  Mike resides in Madison, AL with his wife Wendy.


 

Chuck Rice

Varsity Assistant Coach

Infield Coach


Coach Rice begins his 8th season with the Senators where he will assist with the Freshman, JV, and Varsity teams. His primary duties will be working with the program's infielders, but also assuming game-day duties for the Varsity team.

Coach Rice graduated from Twinsburg High School in Twinsburg, OH in 2008, where he was a 2-year starter and earned All-Conference honors as an infielder.  Coach Rice spent three seasons as an assistant coach at Sparkman Middle School.

Coach Rice is married to Lauren McCaghren Rice of Madison, AL. They have a daughter, Anna Kate, who was born this past November (2023).


 

Josiah John

JV Head Coach

Coach John graduated from Sparkman High School in 2018, lettering in baseball. He's entering his 2nd year as a baseball coach and special education teacher at Sparkman. 

After graduating high school, he played baseball at Mississippi College and Lawson State Community College before transferring to Mississippi State University to finish his undergraduate in special education. 

Hometown is Toney, Alabama.


Geary Howell 

Freshman Head Coach

Geary Howell is from Tupelo, MS and is a graduate of Gateway Christian High School. He earned his Bachelor's Degree from Delta State University and his Master's Degree from the University of Missouri. He has over twenty years experience as a teacher and coach and began his career coaching baseball at Warren Central High School in Vicksburg, MS. As a cross country coach he has won two State Championships at Clinton High School (2010) and Madison Central High School (2014).

 

Coach Howell lives in Huntsville with his wife, Alicia Dee Howell and their two children Austin (18) and Maci Kate (6).   



Will Sipes

Hitting Coach


He will be working with hitters and infielders.

 

Coach Sipes enters his first year of coaching at Sparkman High. He graduated from Sparkman in 2015, lettering in baseball as a 3 year starter on varsity. He was selected to the All-State Team as a infielder his junior and senior year helping to lead the Senators to two final four appearances and a state championship game. 

 

Coach Sipes went on to play college baseball at Shelton State Community College in Tuscaloosa, Alabama and then at Calhoun Community College in Decatur, Alabama. At both stops he helped lead his teams to appearances in the JUCO state tournament.





   



Hudson Booth

Manager
